This new construction passive house located in Vermont includes 3,500 gross sq ft of finished living space, a two car garage connected by a secret basement “batman” tunnel, and an 840 sq ft accessory apartment above the garage.

The client started with a recently built 1300 sq ft barn & workshop with a 1400 sq ft guest apartment above, and the vision of transforming it into a primary residence on the coast of Maine. We looked at several design options to add 500+ extra sq ft of living space, plus a two-car garage.

Atelier Burgund provided architecural drawings and 3d views & walk-throughs to help transform a 1400 sq ft cabin into a guest cottage on the coast of Maine.

Working with the tiniest bathroom footprint imaginable, we transformed a traditional 2nd floor Cape bathroom into a virtual spa for a family of four. By taking a small corner (4.3 sq ft) out of the master bedroom and claiming a 5.5 sq ft closet for the bathroom, we transformed a one-person bathroom into a family friendly bathroom. We created new storage by taking advantage of the empty space available in the plumbing chase.

A modern kitchen renovation of a 1950’s Cape in Bedford, Massachusetts. This was a transformation of our own home and we would not change anything in 2025.

We are excited to be building our own wood workshop! This outbuilding will house a design studio for D.I. projects and a teen hangout/loft for our swiftly growing teens.

An 840 sq ft addition to a 1500 sq ft 1950's cape. The addition includes a new large outdoor deck, a renovated mudroom connected to a new sunroom for indoor plants, an all new kitchen, and a new master suite on the second floor above.

This custom kitchen island was built using reclaimed wood from the owner’s decommissioned dock float. The slight blue tint in the epoxy top coat is an homage to the ocean that weathered the wood for so many years.
